Overview

Being an avid supporter of Tanium, I've found that navigating certain configurations can be a bit perplexing at times. In our ongoing efforts to ease the IO pressure on our infrastructure, we decided to make an adjustment to the DoT (Distribute Over Time) setting specifically for the Endpoint Tools Installation. Regrettably, this endeavor proved to be a misstep. The wording in the configuration led me to believe it was exclusively for deploying tools to existing clients, but in reality, it encompassed both new and existing ones.

This had a direct and substantial impact on our helpdesk operations, particularly those reliant on the "Self-Service" portal for post-build application installations. Given that certain tools are dependent on others being already present, the unintended configuration change significantly hampered our efficiency in deploying hardware to clients. The ripple effect on our client hardware deployment time prompted a reevaluation of our approach to ensure smoother operations going forward.

In brief, set this to a low value to prevent any disruption to the deployment of client tools.
